There are 2 kinds of vipers found in Maryland, the Eastern Copperhead and the Timber Rattlesnake and there are 25 species of snakes in the Colubrid family. However, most snakes found in Maryland are non-venomous and/or pose little to no threat.

01 Why do I have them?

Snakes come out in the spring and summer to look for food, such as small rodents. In doing so, they sometimes inadvertently find themselves in people’s basements or in close proximity to structures.

02 Are snakes dangerous?
